You are making your way through the Mushroom Kingdom while avoiding Bowser's evil minions and trying to save Princess Toadstool. To win the game, Mario has to climb the flagpole at the end of each level. The game requires collecting coins scattered everywhere.
Additionally, there are some special blocks with question marks on them. When you hit them, extra coins and other special items will be revealed. If there is enough time, you must break other blocks, as they may contain rare items or coins.
Regular Mario turns into Super Mario after eating a mushroom. His size doubles, and he gains the ability to destroy the blocks above his head. But be careful – even if he reverts to his normal form when hit, he won't die.
