Only Up was previously unavailable on Steam for the following reasons:
Copyright Dispute: In July 2023, Only Up was briefly taken off Steam due to a copyright issue. A 3D artist claimed that the game used one of their 3D models, which was marked for non-commercial use only on Sketchfab. Since Only Up is a paid game, its use of the model for commercial purposes might have violated the terms.
Developer's Stress: In September 2023, the game was permanently removed from Steam by its developer. The solo developer stated that this was their first game development experience, and they had made many mistakes. The pressure from the game's development and related matters in the previous months was overwhelming.
They wanted to focus on their mental well-being and healing, and planned to continue their education in game design and work on a new project named Kith.
